A fiercely independent singer/composer/poet, Puerto Rican-born Lourdes Perez draws deeply from her jibara (Puerto Rican mountain)roots, her musical upbringing in Spanish and Latin
American nueva trova, and the rich sounds of her adopted home, Guanajuato,Mexico. In her music, these spiritually and politically passionate genres are incarnated in a modern, vibrant
voice. This performance marks the launch of Café de las Tres International Cultural Center and La Cuenta de Cuentos, an international oral history “bank,” as well as the first ever live virtual music performance presented by Chicano Studies, the Institute for Revolutionary MultiMedia Art and the MulitCultural Center.
